Quorum, Milton Keynes
Quorum is a small, high quality, chamber choir based in Milton Keynes, specialising in singing Renaissance and contemporary sacred choral music. The choir has an outstanding reputation for singing challenging, unaccompanied repertoire, at the highest standard. The choir is well known for its innovative and imaginative programming of contemporary choral music alongside music from the Renaissance.
The choir is flexible, and able to provide suitable music for a wide range of church services and other events, such as music festivals. Quorum is available to sing at weddings in the Milton Keynes/North Bucks area. The group is considered ‘quorate’ when there are enough people present to cover each part, hence the name Quorum.
The choir is based at St Mary Magdalene Church, Willen in Milton Keynes where each year we sing several evensong services and an annual carol service. The choir has a long tradition of singing services at local churches, and each year Quorum sings weekend services in major cathedrals around the country.
The current musical director is David Bray.
If you are interested in joining Quorum please contact us using the form provided. Singers need to be strong sight readers (we do not work on notes), able to commit to regular rehearsals on a Monday evening and able to blend well. Vacancies arise from time to time and we are always interested in hearing from high quality singers who are able to sing at specific services in cathedrals.
Quorum is currently recruiting for tenors to join the choir.
August Bank holiday 24-25 August – Quorum is singing weekend services at Canterbury Cathedral featuring music by Palestrina, Victoria, Gabriel Jackson, Arvo Part and William Byrd.
